Supports healthy birth
The classic yoga asanas (postures) are adapted to accommodate the changes in the body as your baby grows. Yoga can help women enjoy their pregnancy with minimal discomfort whilst relieving some of the common ailments like back pain, heartburn and oedema as well as sciatica pain.
Preparation for the Birth
Deep breathing and exercises prepare you for birth by strengthening your birthing muscles, greatly empowering you from within, helping you to listen to your body, stay centred and respond calmly. These benefits can continue long after birth when deep breathing is used to tone the pelvic floor into peak condition. In addition to helping you recover your figure and muscle tone it helps to keep your energies in balance.
Postnatal yoga
Postnatal Yoga helps women to reconnect with themselves and to repair their body quicker as their bodies have changed. All women generally put their babies needs first but in reality, it is just as important to look after your own body as well as babies needs. We need to remember that a Baby is a lifetimes work and in order to commit to that a mother needs to look after herself, after all a healthy mum is a happy baby. New mothers need to look after themselves, know what is happening to their bodies and above all NOT push things too much too soon. Postnatal Yoga is designed to help you tune into your body and baby’s needs at the same time, encouraging you to gradually and safely recover your body, your inner strength and your confidence. This is a wonderful time to get together with other new mums or gain confidence, body shape and wellbeing in your own environment. I am a Master Yoga instructor for both Pre & Post Natal Yoga.
